Tourism New Zealand seems to be the sponsor of publicity for The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug, rather than Warner Brothers. Nice deal.
For the World Premiere of DoS in Los Angeles on December 2, Tourism New Zealand installed The Book Of New Zealand in the Beverly Hills Hilton hotel. It is apparently laid out like a pop-up book, featuring props from the movie and scenes of New Zealand. No names were attached to the opening of the exhibit, but as it turned out, Richard Armitage was there, along with Peter Jackson, Aidan Turner, Dean O’Gorman, Luke Evans and Evangeline Lilly, at the opening on Saturday, November 30.
There were a few photos of the event posted on Twitter. One of the Armitage fan community was there, @HeatherVideos. She took a couple of absolutely stunning shots of Richard Armitage.
Looks like no stubble, right?
And yet, here is the stubble visible! Guylty, is it the lighting?
Along with the sassy look!
In Heather’s photos you can see the blue color of the checked shirt and jacket that Mr. Armitage is wearing. Lovely color. And apparently, thanks to Ilaria Urbinati who selected his outfits. Thank you SO MUCH, Heather, for taking these lovely photos.
And last is a picture of the stars with fans. Love the way Mr. A. hugs the little girl! Awww!
Thanks to RichardArmitageNet.com for gathering the twittered photos, to CineMovies for the last picture. And, of course, @HeatherVideos for the beautiful close-ups!

Love this look!! More pictures! MORE!! π
What a neat event! Nice way to kick off the DOS premieres. π And Thorin is looking quite fetching…
Indeed he is! Very very handsome! Love the outfit!
Nice to see some RL pics there. He’s looking really young, I think.
Re. stubble – are you writing on a laptop, MarieAstra? Adjust the angle of your screen a little bit – then you can see the stubble even in the first image. But yeah, the difference between the two images is the angle of the light hitting RA’s face. I suspect Heathdances shot both images without *her* flash. In the first image, someone else’s flash is triggered the same time that she shoots, in the second there is no flash. Hence the difference in tonality.
wow, you are good at this. Alle Achtung.
*teehee* – just making a few informed guesses. Could be totally off-mark. Only Heathdances can corroborate my theory π
Well thank you for that personal *ooof*, guylty! π I am indeed looking at the pix on a laptop! Totally agree at how young he is looking. Amazing the difference the hairstyle can make. π
Pleasure :-). Did the angle adjustment make a difference for you?
Indeed it did! I could definitely see the stubble in the first picture when I picked up the laptop. Looking at it straight on I didn’t see the stubble at all. As soon as I picked up the laptop, there it was! π Hey, you’re pretty good, guylty! π
*ggg* I’ll get back to you guys for my testimonials π
LOL! You’ve got it!! π
