These are very similar feelings to those I have. I have had my “obsessions”, also “crushes”. Where does RA fall? That remains to be seen.
A few fandom members seem to be looking back lately and recalling why they were drawn to Richard Armitage initially. So I thought this might be a good time to look back a bit at my fan history, in the general sense, what led me to embrace this particular type of hobby.
I’ve always enjoyed watching movies and television. Being an extremely shy child, it became an easy way for me to connect with family members who didn’t quite know how to interact with me.
My father and I would regularly watch westerns, spy thrillers, and Karate films together.
You’re not allowed to talk when watching television with my Dad, questions have to wait for commercials or until the end credits roll. this caused me to often miss the plot entirely.
My older brother and I would memorize movie lines word-for-word and shout them out while the movie…

Obsessive Behavior 
thanks for the reblog 🙂 (I use a ton of pictures in my posts, don’t I? *laughs*) how do you differentiate between a “crush” and an “obsession”?
A crush I just have temporarily. An obsession lasts a long while. There are actors I crushed on that I never really bothered to find out too much about them. But obsessions…..yes, to me, people, places and things (i.e. books) …I obsess over. I am currently writing a blog on my obsession with Hawaii. I LOVE Hawaii. So my obsessions are not only over actors. Although some, like RA, rise to that level. Sink to that level? LOL!! Love your “tons” of pictures! 😀
I’ve had quite a few crushes in my time then, so many I’m afraid to count! I obsess about historical events and places too. I remember when I first saw the movie “atonement” (James McAvoy is a crush that almost made it to obsession status 😉 ) I rushed out to get the book, then I became obsessed with the Dunkirk evacuation.
Yes! That’s the best kind of obsession! When it leads you to learn about other things. That has happened to me so often. Obsession with LOTR led me to RA, frex. Yes, obsession is a good thing.
